(Lisa is inside the pyramid door and is about to look for a way to let the others in when the door suddenly closes. She immediately runs back to the door but gets there too late. In desperation she pounds on the door hoping that someone will hear her. When that does work she tries her communicator but all she hears is static.)

Lisa : (deperately) Martian! Corrie! Keido! Jay! Can anybody here me?

Woman : Do not be afraid. We mean you no harm.

Lisa : Who are you?

Woman : Come closer and I will do my best to explain things.

(Not knowing what else to do Lisa enters the room directly in front of her. It is filled with more scientific equipment than the TARDIS control room and and the Martian labs combined. Lisa guesses the equipment is used for monitoring the various activities of Earth. In the center of the room is a hologram of a dark-haired woman in her early thirties. She is wearing a white, short-sleeved gown that goes all the way to the floor which seems to glide as she approaches.)

Woman : My name is Katrina. This hologram of me was made several centuries ago. It is computer controlled. Feel free to ask me as many questions as you want about SEDF, the pyramid, the Orsirans, or anything else you can think of but keep in a mind a computer can only use the knowlege that was put into it. A computer can't answer everything.

(The hologram of Katrina is very realistic. If Lisa couldn't see right through her she wouldn't know it was a hologram at all.) Lisa : Why did you close the door?

Katrina : The computer sensed danger nearby. It was just an automatic safety precaution. This message is for you and you alone. What you do with this information is up to you but we had to make sure you were alone when you recieved it.

Lisa : Can anyone else enter the pyramid?

Katrina : Yes, your friends will eventually be able to enter the pyramid and see the scientific and cultural achievements of the Osirans and SEDF. This program however will be deleted.

(Since the program would be deleted once her friends arrived, Lisa realized she had to find out what she could beforehand.)

Lisa : Who are the Osirans?

Katrina : The Osirans were a race of highly advanced beings who visited our solar system around 10,000 B.C. They took great interest in all the planets, particularly Earth and Mars, and built a pyramid on each them. Inside the pyramids they could observe the lifeforms and activities of each planet without being disturbed. Unfortunately not all Osirans wanted to help us. One called Sutekh caused the Osirans a great deal of trouble. He destroyed their home planet and made every possible effort to wipe out all life everywhere. It took the combined efforts of Horus and the other Osirans to finally bring him to justice. He was imprisoned on Earth not too far from this very place. After that the leader of the Osirans, Horace, decided the earthlings needed to be more capable of defending themselves. Shortly before they left the remained Osirans got together and hand picked a group of people from all over the globe to guard the secrets of their technology and protect Earth from alien invaders. This group was called the Secret Earth Defense Force, or SEDF.

Lisa : That was going to be my next question.

Katrina : The duties of SEDF were passed down from generation to generation. Like you, I too am a member of SEDF. Each of us has been assigned to monitor different artifacts from different parts of the globe. Your parents will tell you what to do.

Lisa : (in shock) My parents are dead! I don't know what I'm supposed to do! How can I be a member of SEDF if I don't know what I'm supposed to monitor?

Katrina : Did you parents leave behind any documents?

Lisa : Yes they did. Corrie has them now. That is how we found out about the pyramid.

Katrina : The document will tell you what you need to know.

Lisa : The documents are in code. I don't fully understand them. My parents put the documents in code so no one else could read them. Now they are nearly impossible to decipher ever with the help of some of my friends who come from technologically advanced societies. We have only been able to decode a portion of what the documents say. I need help!

(Katrina does not reply. Lisa remembers Katrina's warning that the computer would not be able to answer everything so she tries another approach.)

Lisa : You said I am part of a group of people called SEDF, the Secret Earth Defense Force who protect Earth from alien invaders.

Katrina : That is correct.

Lisa : Where are the other members of SEDF? Are any of them someplace where I might be able to find them? Are any of them on Mars?

Katrina : A group called SMDF, Secret Mars Defense Force, once exsited but we haven't heard from them in so long that we are not sure if any of them are left. The other members of SEDF travel frequently from country to country over many generations. We have no records of the current location of any of them. If you would like to leave your address, I will notify the next member of SEDF who comes here of your desire to make contact.

Lisa : How long will that take?

Katrina : There is no way of telling. Sometimes visitors arrive several hours apart. Other times it takes years.

Lisa : (grumbling) That isn't much help. (sighes) If and when they arrive, tell them I am staying at the Ying-Yang Uchi in Nerima.

Katrina : Your address has been recorded.

Lisa : How many members of SEDF are there?

Katrina : At the beginning there were only 740, one for each remaining Osiran. Since their assignments were passed down from generation to generation, that number grew rapidly. Just before the Black Plague there were over 100,000 members of SEDF. Then it start to decrease rapidly. Now there are only about 100 members of SEDF left. Someone or something has been slowly killing them off.

(A loud beep is heard.)

Lisa : What was that?

Kartina : Nothing important. You may ask one more question.

Lisa : What ever happened to the Osirans.

Kartina : I don't know. They were suppose to return about 3000 years ago but for some reason they never did. It was nice talking to you. Good bye, Lisa.

Lisa : Good bye, Katrina.

(Lisa goes over to the door. Suddenly she is aware of how serious her wounds actually are. They didn't hurt when she was talking to Katrina but now they are quite painful. The door opens and Lisa collapses to the ground, unconscious.)

---Outside the pyramid, everyone nervously waits while Gaeld tries to create a talisman. Corrie frantically tries to contact Lisa on the communicator. Suddenly, the doors swing open.

Corrie: Careful. There may be traps. K9 take the lead. Find Lisa.

K9: Affirmative Mistress.

Cautiously the party follows K9 down several corridors. Harley attempts to "examine" a small statuette more carefully. Corrie stops her.

Corrie: (sardonically) I know you know your way around traps, but the Osirans were notorious for their extrememly complicated and dangerous methods. Even if your training included traps from alien societies around 5000 years old, I'd wait until we checked this place out.

Harley: (disappointed) Oh, darn.

Martian: Besides, we should find Lisa first.

K9 leads the party down a couple of corridors to a large room, filled with enough devices to keep Corrie and the Martians busy for centuries. However, their eyes are drawn away from the Osiran devices to the unconscious body of Lisa on the floor. Corrie is by her side in an instant, checking Lisa's pulse.

Corrie: K9! Status report!

K9: Lisa is weak from blood loss, shock and pain.

Corrie: Dr. StGeorge! Do you have something to help her fast?

Gaeld: (kneeling next to Corrie) I'll see to the child.

A shout attracts Corrie's attention elsewhere. She jumps to her feet and finds that someone didn't listen to her warning and is now trapped in a force field by an Osiran trap. She lets loose a stream of expletives in several alien languages before going to study the trap. There isn't much time. Air is running out in the force field.

Gaeld: (kneeling next to Corrie) I'll see to the child. (passes his hands over her and snorts) Crimson theft. (every human in the room begins suffering from a nosebleed; the blood forms floating trails that converge on Gaeld's left hand; where it forms a crimson orb; he then pushes it into Lisa)

Tsubasa: Eeeek!!!, gross!!!!!!

Corrie: What are you doing? Do you even know what's Lisa's blood type?!

Gaeld: It's a kind of magic... (sneers at Keido)

Lisa: <moans>

K9: Lifesigns are stable.

One: (the poor, poor, poor guy) Help me!

Gaeld: By Myrddin's prison, do I have to turn you into a statue to keep you from harm?!

One: Eeek!

K9: The field has a flickering frequence; a precisely timed extraction should breach it.

Gaeld: Martian.

Martian: What? What are you looking at me like that?

Gaeld: Chronos Sleep.

The Martian sees how every movement around him begins to slow to a crawl; until he begins to see the flicker of the field; holes appearing in steadily longer periods of time. He unslings his whip and waits for a hole.

It comes.

The whip crackles and twirls around One's leg.

The Martian pulls.

The hole closes...

...but One is through!

Time resumes its normal pace.

White Saber: Sir! I didn't know you could move that fast!

Martian: I did?

One: (glomps the Martian) Thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou...

Martian: Cut it out!

Tsubasa: Yaaay!

Gaeld: So; if no other ocurrance hinders us; we should be able to begin untangling this mistery.

Lisa : The pyramid on Earth and the pyramid on Mars may be connected somehow. Perhaps there is some sort of dimensional link between the two places.

Corrie : That is definately a possibility.

Black : What would a dimensional link look like?

Green : I don't know. Like something we haven't seen before I guess.

AA5

RLJussi:Since when has Lisa understood Martian?...The babel fish! DOH!!!!!

Martian:Wait a minute! You understood what I was saying?

Lisa:The babel fish, remember?

Martian:(slaps his forehead)Stupid me...

>Corrie : That is definately a possibility.

>Black : What would a dimensional link look like?

>Green : I don't know. Like something we haven't seen before I guess.

Purple:Don't they always. So what do we do now, boss?

White:(turning to Martian)Sir?

Martian:I just gave you your orders.

White:Oh, right. Lets go fellas!

AA6

Corrie: Search *carefully*. We don't want to have a repeat performance of someone getting trapped. (she pulls a device out of her satchel and hands it to one of the techs) This should tell us if there are any more traps. (turning to the Martian) You know, if you're so interested in the pyramid on Mars, we should contact the Doctor. He visited there once. He might be able to locate it again.

Martian: Maybe after we clear things up here, you can contact him.

While the Martian and Corrie become embroiled in further technical discussions, the cat worms its way out of Harley's grasp and comes over to Lisa. It curls up next to Lisa. Gaeld notices that the cat is almost constantly watching Keido, who is making sure no one messes with any of the equipment until Corrie and the Martians have a chance to check it for traps. Keido stops Tsubasa from touching a relatively innocent looking device. One of the Martian techs, using Corrie's device, discovers a trap, which once discovered is disarmed. Feeling Gaeld's eyes on her, the cat turns and meets Gaeld's stare. She licks a paw as if unperturbed.

Cat: (thinking) There is something majorly strange about that guy. (she looks around for a minute) Maybe I should take the opportunity to disappear. I have enough for a log entry... Nah. Things are getting pretty intersting around here. (she looks back at Gaeld) But then, curiosity killed the cat.

AB5

(Lisa notices the cat is paying close attention to her and picks her up.)

Lisa : (gently petting her) What's a matter? Are you lost?

Tech #5 : Are you sure that's safe?

Lisa : No. I admit she's a strange looking cat but I think she's on our side. Of course around here you can never be entirely sure about anything.

Maki: I think you're rationalizing. << Hope this anti-flame coating on my lab coat holds up... >> (Maki is unaware that Gaeld is stuck as human).

Gaeld: Nonsense.

Maki: You are. My guess is that _you_ do a lot of things to humans yourself that you manage to rationalize away by saying you're only using them against another species. Gives you a lot in common with It.

Gaeld: It's behavior points toward that motive heavier than gleeful sadism; and Guardian spirits of It's kind are too single-minded to harbor such sofisticated feelings as wanton cruelty. And as for passing for human, I have no need to pretend to be a talking monkey among all these uberbeing wannabes.

Gaeld: Nonsense indeed. I don't _need_ to rationalize what I do; much less to humans. My actions are performed with full knowledge and full responsibility; I am beholden to none; I need not justify my actions; not even to myself. And for your information; what I do to humans I did to my species. I deal with individuals and so far, too few individuals of the homo _pseudo_sapiens have proven worthy of my respect.
